CSK Pacer Mukesh Choudhary Suffers Personal Loss; MS Dhoni’s Support During Difficult Time Comes to Light

Chennai Super Kings pacer Mukesh Choudhary is currently going through a deeply emotional phase after the passing of his mother, Prem Devi, who died on Tuesday following a long illness. She was undergoing treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai before her demise.

According to reports, Choudhary immediately travelled to his hometown in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, after Chennai Super Kings’ match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday. He performed the last rites alongside his elder brother, Dr. Rajesh Choudhary, before rejoining team duties ahead of the ongoing IPL 2026 season.

MS Dhoni’s support during tough times

In a touching development, it has been reported that former CSK captain MS Dhoni stood firmly by Choudhary during the difficult period. As per reports, Dhoni remained in constant touch with the young pacer, offering emotional support throughout his mother’s illness. He is also said to have visited her in the hospital during her treatment, a gesture that has been widely appreciated by fans.

Choudhary’s IPL 2026 participation

Choudhary has featured in only one match for Chennai Super Kings so far in IPL 2026. While initial reports suggested he had rejoined the squad ahead of their clash against Mumbai Indians, other updates indicate that he may take a short break before returning for the fixture against Punjab Kings.

Dhoni managing recovery and training workload

Meanwhile, CSK veteran MS Dhoni continues his own recovery from a calf strain sustained before the start of the season. He has not yet played in IPL 2026 but has been actively involved in training sessions.

Dhoni was seen keeping wickets and batting in the nets over recent days, gradually increasing his workload. However, team officials have indicated that his return will depend on how comfortable he feels along with the assessment of the medical staff.

CSK bowling coach Eric Simons has also stated that Dhoni’s availability will be decided based on his fitness response rather than a fixed timeline.

Light moments amid serious preparation

Despite the intensity of the season and off-field challenges, Dhoni was also seen sharing a light-hearted moment during practice when he interacted with an AI-powered robotic dog at the training facility. Known for his calm and relaxed presence, he spent a few moments engaging with the device, adding a lighter note to an otherwise serious training session.

As CSK navigate both on-field challenges and personal setbacks within the squad, the support shown by senior players like Dhoni has stood out as a key source of strength for the team.
