Mrunal Thakur has opened up about her experience working in Son of Sardaar 2, revealing that the final outcome of the film did not entirely align with her expectations. The actor, who is currently promoting her latest release Dacoit: A Love Story, spoke candidly about unexpected casting choices and significant changes made during the editing process.

In an interview with Prema, Mrunal shared that she was surprised to learn that a “very senior actor” would be playing her husband in the film. She admitted that this revelation altered her understanding of the project. “I didn’t know a very senior actor was going to play my husband. Because that just changes my…this is not what I expected from the movie. So, there I failed. Because there was a little bit of trust that was shaken. But you know what, I don’t have regrets,” she said.

In Son of Sardaar 2, Mrunal played the character Rabia, while Chunky Panday portrayed her estranged husband Danish. The film also stars Ajay Devgn as Jaswinder Singh Randhawa (Jassi) and Neeru Bajwa as his wife Dimple. The story revolves around two individuals navigating troubled marriages who eventually find emotional connection and love.

Apart from the casting surprise, Mrunal also expressed disappointment over key scenes from her role being removed during the editing stage. She explained that some of the most emotionally significant sequences involving her character and a child character were cut from the final version, which she felt weakened the narrative arc.

She elaborated on one such scene, saying it portrayed a deep emotional bond and sacrifice, where her character steps up to raise a child after a tragedy. According to her, the sequence added emotional weight to the story but did not make it to the final cut.

Despite these setbacks, Mrunal maintained a balanced perspective, stating that she holds no regrets about being part of the project and continues to share a cordial relationship with the team.

Son of Sardaar 2, a sequel to the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar, features an ensemble cast including Ravi Kishan, Deepak Dobriyal, and Kubbra Sait alongside the lead actors.
