In the latest Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) drama, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin didn’t hold back while reacting to Delhi Capitals’ middle-order batter David Miller’s controversial last-over decision against the Gujarat Titans. Ashwin added that Miller’s approach might have made sense if four or six runs were required from the final two balls, but in the scenario with just two runs needed, the decision was “illogical.”

“Because if you want 4 runs or 6 runs, it was right. You need 2 runs. And what are the odds? You can take 1 run. Kuldeep will at least get into the bat. Or if he doesn’t, you can run away. Even if Kuldeep gets bowled… if you reach the Super Over, you have done well. I am not able to wrap my head around it,” he explained.

Ashwin acknowledged that everyone can make mistakes, but he stressed that Miller’s decision had far-reaching consequences, not only costing DC the match but also giving Gujarat a psychological edge in the tournament.

“Mistakes can happen with anyone… But I am not able to wrap my head around the thinking. What was the thinking? I don’t know, man. Delhi has such a strong team. But still, I told you that Delhi might find a way to kick themselves out of the tournament. If you lose like this, you are doing two things: shaking the confidence of your team and giving the opposition a morale boost,” Ashwin said.

The former India captain emphasized that such errors in judgment can influence the rest of the tournament, providing a lifeline to opponents while leaving a strong team like Delhi stuck with just 4 points.
