Ranbir Kapoor Opens Up About Initially Rejecting Role of Lord Rama in Ramayana
Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor is set to portray the revered Lord Rama in the highly anticipated film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. But in a candid revelation, Ranbir shared that he had initially turned down the role when it was first offered to him.
Speaking at an event in New York with the film team, Ranbir recalled, “I remember when Namit Malhotra offered me this part around four years ago, my instant reaction was ‘No’. I’m not fit enough, not good enough, and I won’t be able to do full justice.” His hesitation stemmed from the immense responsibility and pressure that comes with portraying such an iconic and revered character in Indian mythology.
However, Ranbir explained how personal changes in his life influenced his eventual acceptance. “That fear very quickly turned into gratitude because opportunities like this were needed very much in my life. I was in a period in my life where I needed to change my life and lifestyle. I became a father for the first time,” he said, connecting the decision to his daughter Raha Kapoor’s arrival.
He added, “I think the sweet coincidence of playing Lord Rama and becoming a father was needed for a turning point in my life,” revealing how fatherhood helped him embrace the role with the dedication and mindset it demanded.
Ranbir’s honesty not only provides insight into the emotional and psychological journey of taking on such a legendary role but also highlights the interplay between personal growth and professional opportunities. Fans are now eagerly awaiting his portrayal of Lord Rama, which promises to be a blend of devotion, depth, and personal transformation.
