Singapore Changi Airport Investing Rs 22,000 Crore to Redefine the Future of Air Travel

Why the Investment?
For a small island nation of 719 square kilometers and a population of 6.04 million, Singapore heavily relies on tourism, which contributes around 6% of its services exports. Tourism receipts reached $22.4 billion between January and September 2024, up 10% from 2023.
To further boost tourism and the economy, authorities are investing in making Changi Airport more attractive for both transit and destination travelers. A new Terminal 5, slated for completion in the mid-2030s, will be larger than Terminals 1-4 combined, with a capacity to handle 50 million passengers annually. Once operational, the airport will handle 140 million passengers per year.
