Anil Pandit, who has claimed responsibility on social media for the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area, is now under the scanner of multiple police agencies. According to Delhi Police, Pandit had no significant criminal record before leaving India in 2023 but is now wanted in more than 12 alleged extortion cases in Haryana.
Police suspect that Pandit is operating from California and helping coordinate extortion demands and attacks on celebrities, artists and businessmen in India in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Investigators are examining his alleged role in the Juhu shooting as well as several other cases linked to threats and firing incidents.
What happened in the Tiger Shroff firing case?
Tiger Shroff was reportedly inside his car in Juhu on Sunday evening when three unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly approached the vehicle and opened fire. The actor escaped without bullet injuries, while his driver and a person near the car reportedly sustained gunshot wounds.
After the attackers fled, Tiger reportedly took his injured driver to the hospital. The incident prompted a police investigation, with officers examining CCTV footage and collecting forensic evidence to identify those responsible.
Pandit and his alleged associate Harman Sandhu later shared social media posts and audio messages claiming responsibility for the attack. Police are investigating these claims and the alleged threats directed at members of the film industry.
Who is Anil Pandit?
According to the Delhi Police Crime Branch, Pandit is in his early 30s and belongs to Rai Kalan village in Haryana’s Panipat district. Police said he left India around 2023 and had no significant criminal record before his departure.
Investigators now suspect that he has become involved in coordinating criminal activities from overseas. He is allegedly connected with other suspected members of the syndicate, including Harman Sandhu, Harry Boxer, Shubham Lonkar and Randeep Malik.
Police believe the group may be using threats and shootings to intimidate prominent personalities and demand money in the name of the Bishnoi gang. However, these allegations remain part of the ongoing investigation.
Other cases linked to Pandit
Investigators have also linked Pandit to a June 2026 firing incident outside 24HS Fitness, a gym owned by Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa in West Delhi. Gunmen allegedly opened fire outside the establishment, and Pandit reportedly claimed responsibility on social media.
The Delhi Police Crime Branch later arrested the alleged shooters. According to police officers, Pandit remains wanted in the case, and a non-bailable warrant has been obtained against him. The case is being investigated by the Crime Branch’s NDR unit.
Pandit has also been linked by investigators to a targeted shooting involving Haryanvi singer Diler Kharkia’s vehicle in Bhiwani, Haryana. Police suspect the attack may have been intended as a warning after alleged extortion demands or instructions were ignored. The alleged shooter was arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch in coordination with the Sonipat Special Task Force.
Apart from these incidents, police officers say Pandit is wanted in around 10 to 12 alleged extortion cases involving businessmen in Panipat, Sonipat and Karnal. The cases reportedly involve demands for money made in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Police probe alleged overseas operations
Investigators are now examining whether Pandit helped coordinate attacks from abroad and whether the people claiming responsibility online had direct links with shooters operating in India.
Police suspect that public claims of responsibility and threats against well-known personalities may be used to create fear, pressure targets into paying extortion money and strengthen the gang’s influence.
Pandit’s alleged overseas connections could make efforts to trace and arrest him more complicated. Authorities are continuing to investigate the links between the cases, the alleged extortion network and the people involved in the attacks.
For now, his alleged role in the Tiger Shroff firing incident and the other cases remains under investigation. Police will need to establish the evidence and verify the claims made on social media as the probe progresses.
