Actor Adah Sharma, who played a key role in the controversial hit The Kerala Story, was noticeably absent from its sequel, The Kerala Story 2. Her absence from the cast surprised many fans, especially after the first film gained significant attention following its release.
For a long time, Adah remained silent about the sequel and did not comment when the film was announced or even during the initial days after its release. However, in a recent conversation with Indo-Asian News Service, the actress finally addressed the speculation surrounding her absence from the second installment.
Speaking about the situation, Adah explained that she prefers to talk about projects she is directly involved in and does not feel comfortable discussing films she is not part of.
“I enjoy speaking about a film I am part of. When I’m not a part of a film, I feel speaking about it just to be in the news isn’t right. Whether I was offered the sequel or not is something that should remain between the makers and the actor and not really be discussed publicly,” she said.
The actress also pointed out that the sequel tells a completely different story compared to the first film.
She explained that The Kerala Story focused on ISIS camps in Afghanistan and depicted how an innocent girl is gradually drawn into extremism. According to her, the second installment follows a separate narrative and explores a different subject.
“The first part was about ISIS camps in Afghanistan and showed step by step how an innocent girl ends up becoming a terrorist. Part 2 is a completely different story,” Adah added.
Despite not being part of the sequel, Adah Sharma’s performance in The Kerala Story was widely discussed and played a major role in the film’s popularity. Her recent comments have now clarified her stance, while also keeping the details of the casting decision private.
