Viral ‘Mahakumbh’ Girl Monalisa Bhosle Marries Boyfriend Farman Khan in Kerala Amid Police Protection
Viral sensation Monalisa Bhosle at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The wedding was held under police protection following reports of resistance from Monalisa’s father.
Before the ceremony, the couple sought refuge at Thampanoor Police Station to ensure their safety. Monalisa, 18, hailing from Indore, and Farman, from Maharashtra, met through Facebook six months ago. The relationship faced opposition due to their different religious backgrounds, with reports alleging that Monalisa’s father, Jai Singh Bhosle, pressured her into a forced marriage with a distant relative.
While filming her debut Malayalam movie, ‘Nagamma’, in Poovar, Monalisa’s father reportedly located her and attempted to take her back by force. Following the incident, the couple approached the Thampanoor police station for protection. After Monalisa filed a formal complaint, police intervened and clarified that, being 18, she has the legal right to decide whom she wants to marry. The father complied, and the couple left the station together.

The wedding ceremony saw the bride dressed in a bright red saree with traditional sindoor, while the groom wore a white shirt and mundu. Several prominent Kerala leaders attended the event in support of the couple, including V. Sivankutty, who described it as “the real Kerala story,” MV Govindan, and AA Rahim.
Monalisa first rose to national fame during the 2025 Mahakumbh Mela when a video of her selling rudraksha beads and garlands went viral. Her striking amber eyes and radiant smile earned her the nickname “Mona Lisa,” propelling her to national recognition.
She is now set to make her Malayalam cinema debut with director P. Binu Varghese’s ‘Nagamma’, starring alongside actor Kailash. Additionally, Monalisa is preparing for her Bollywood debut in The Diary of Manipur directed by Sanoj Mishra. Outside films, she actively engages with her fanbase on Instagram and collaborates with various brands.
The wedding and its preceding events have sparked conversations across India about personal freedom, interfaith marriage, and the legal rights of young adults, with Monalisa and Farman’s story becoming a symbol of courage for many.
