Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sparks Online Debate by Naming ‘Dhurandhar’ His Favourite Film
Young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi has unexpectedly found himself at the centre of social media chatter after revealing that his favourite film is Dhurandhar. The 14-year-old made the comment while interacting with the media on the sidelines of the BCCI Naman Awards, instantly grabbing attention because the film carries an “A” (Adults Only) certificate in India.
The film, currently streaming on Netflix, led some users online to question whether Suryavanshi could face any consequences for watching it at his age. However, legal experts clarified that under India’s existing OTT regulations, minors are not directly penalised for viewing adult-rated content. Instead, the responsibility lies primarily with streaming platforms and parental supervision.
“The ‘A’ certification mainly governs theatrical releases, where cinemas are expected to restrict entry to adults. For OTT platforms, content classification and parental control tools guide viewer discretion,” said a legal expert.
Netflix and other streaming services offer age classifications and parental controls that allow families to restrict access to mature content, ensuring that minors can be guided appropriately while watching online.
Dhurandhar: A Record-Breaking Hit
Since its release on December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar has become a massive blockbuster, grossing over Rs 839 crore in India and Rs 1,300 crore worldwide. Riding on the film’s immense popularity, the upcoming Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has already recorded a surge in advance bookings ahead of its March 19 release, promising another major box office moment.
While Suryavanshi’s casual comment about enjoying the film has sparked discussion online, it is unlikely to create any legal trouble for the young cricketer. The episode is more of a social media talking point than a regulatory issue.
With Dhurandhar continuing to dominate conversations and its sequel on the horizon, Suryavanshi’s revelation has only added to the hype surrounding the franchise.
