Filmmaker Mohit Suri has set the record straight on ongoing rumours about a collaboration with Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, clarifying that the two are not currently working together on any project.

In a recent interaction with Variety India, Suri addressed the speculation, saying, “Ranbir Kapoor is not in my next film. I genuinely want to work with him, and I hope he feels the same way about me.” While confirming that the two have met and discussed the possibility of collaborating, the director emphasized that nothing has been finalised yet.

“I went to meet him to discuss and intend to work together. Meanwhile, it’s been in news that we are already doing a film together,” Suri explained, highlighting how premature reports sparked the buzz.

Despite shutting down the rumours, Suri was full of praise for the actor, describing him as both talented and deeply passionate about cinema. He pointed out that Kapoor’s appreciation extends beyond box office success, citing his admiration for Suri’s film Awarapan, which, despite underperforming commercially, has gained a cult following over the years. “He keeps telling me it’s one of my best films,” Suri shared.

The director also noted that Kapoor’s emotional range and nuanced performances align well with the kind of stories he likes to tell. “Ranbir has the depth and layered nuances that my kind of films need,” he said, adding candidly, “There is no Ranbir Kapoor in my film, at the moment. I wish there was.”

While a collaboration between Mohit Suri and Ranbir Kapoor may not be happening just yet, Suri’s remarks have only heightened anticipation among fans eager to see the two creative forces come together in the future.
