Rakesh Bedi Humbled by Ranveer Singh’s ₹500 Crore Joke in Dhurandhar 2
New Delhi, March 19: Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi, who has garnered acclaim for his role as Jameel in the Dhurandhar franchise, revealed that Ranveer Singh gave him one of the biggest compliments of his career. Speaking on India Podcasts, Bedi shared that Ranveer jokingly told him he deserves ₹500 crore if Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge grosses ₹1,000 crore at the box office.
Chemistry on Set
Bedi described the rapport between him and Ranveer Singh as “bohot achchi tuning rahi” (very good chemistry). Recalling his last day on set, he said, “Ranveer ne mike apne haath mein li aur bola ki agar ye film ₹1,000 crore ka dhanda karegi toh usme ₹500 crore Rakesh ji ke vajah se honge!” (Ranveer took the mic and said that if the film makes ₹1,000 crore at the box office, then ₹500 crore will be because of Rakesh ji).
Humbled by the gesture, Bedi added, “Ek character actor ke liye issey badi respect aur kya ho sakti hai?” (What more respect can a character actor ask for?). He also praised the emotional atmosphere on set, recalling that the director had told him he would cry on Bedi’s last day of shooting, highlighting the camaraderie that translated into the film.
Bedi plays a scheming and manipulative Karachi politician in the franchise, a role that has received attention for its layered portrayal.
