Maya’s mother, Kiyoko Kibbel, confirmed the heartbreaking news through an emotional message shared on social media. According to her statement, Maya passed away on March 7 after suffering complications related to Wilson’s disease.
In her note, Kiyoko revealed that Maya had been struggling with the rare condition for a long time and endured significant pain during her battle.
“It is with great sorrow that I have to post this sad news. Maya had been suffering from a rare disease called Wilson’s disease. She fought hard but her body gave out,” she wrote.
She further shared that Maya collapsed suddenly, and despite being rushed to the emergency room, doctors were unable to save her.
“She had suffered so much that often she would cry herself to sleep due to her pain,” Kiyoko added, expressing both grief and relief that her daughter was no longer suffering.

Kiyoko also addressed Maya’s friends and loved ones in her emotional post. She encouraged them to remember Maya with love and comfort themselves with the belief that she is now at peace.

The grieving mother concluded by saying that after 30 years of raising her daughter, the loss has left her heartbroken, but she takes solace in knowing Maya is no longer in pain.
