Farah Khan Recalls Breaking Down After Salman Khan’s Emotional Scene in Jaan-E-Mann: “He Actually Cried”

New Delhi: Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan recently looked back at one of the most emotional moments she witnessed on a film set—an intense scene performed by superstar Salman Khan in the 2006 film Jaan-E-Mann. According to Farah, the actor delivered a deeply authentic performance that left even her in tears.

A Powerful Moment on the Brooklyn Bridge

Speaking during a candid conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Farah recalled how Salman completely immersed himself in an emotional sequence filmed on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. She revealed that the actor didn’t rely on glycerin or any cinematic trick to portray the scene—he genuinely broke down in front of the camera.

“My heart broke then when he cried on the Brooklyn Bridge; he actually cried,” Farah said. “If you see that song, there is no glycerin, nothing. He just broke down crying over there, and it was just magic. And then I also broke down crying.”

Farah added that the moment perfectly captured Salman Khan’s ability to internalize emotions and express them naturally on screen.

Salman Khan’s Sensitive Side

During the conversation, Farah also spoke about Salman’s personality beyond his popular “Dabangg” image. While the actor is often seen as tough and fearless in public, she believes he is deeply sensitive at heart.

“Salman internalised his pain. But inside, he’s soft like wax,” she said, describing the emotional depth behind his on-screen performances.

A Friendship That Goes Back Years

Farah Khan also shared nostalgic memories of her long-standing friendship with Salman Khan. She revealed that she has known the actor since their early days in the industry.

“I know Salman since childhood. He took me along for the screen test of Maine Pyar Kiya to teach him dance. And after an hour, I left him there and ran away,” she joked.

Host Ranveer Allahbadia asked her how the young Salman from those days compares to the superstar he is today. Farah responded by praising his unique sense of humour.

“He has a dry sense of humour which, if you get it, he is very, very funny,” she said.

Different Lifestyles, Same Bond

Despite their strong friendship, Farah admitted their lifestyles are quite different now.

“I go to his house sometimes, but we don’t hang out much. His hangout is very different from mine. I want to sleep by 9:30 or 10, while he likes to hang out from 2 in the morning,” she laughed.

Iconic Collaborations Over the Years

Farah Khan and Salman Khan have worked together on several memorable projects over the years, including Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Dabangg (2010), and Sultan (2016).

More recently, Farah choreographed a high-energy dance number for Salman in his 2025 film Sikandar, continuing their long creative partnership.

Farah’s recollection of that emotional moment on the Jaan-E-Mann set highlights a lesser-seen side of Salman Khan one where genuine emotion, rather than cinematic technique, created a truly unforgettable performance.
