Manish Malhotra Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Mother Garima Malhotra Following Her Passing at 94
Mumbai: Renowned Bollywood designer and filmmaker Manish Malhotra is mourning the loss of his mother, Garima Malhotra, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 94. Her last rites were held on Friday at the Hindu Crematorium in Santa Cruz West, Mumbai.
Sharing his grief on social media, Manish posted a touching tribute on Instagram, accompanied by a picture of his mother. In the caption, he wrote, “Love and Miss you Forever” along with a red heart and folded hands emoji, expressing his deep love and the void her passing has left in his life.
The heartfelt post drew condolences from numerous Bollywood celebrities. Veteran actor Anupam Kher commented, “Sorry for your loss my dear Manish. Nothing in the world can replace the emotion called MOTHER.” Actress Manisha Koirala wrote, “My heart goes out to you during this tough time. Your mom’s love will never fade. May lord bless her soul and give you the strength to cope!!!” Actress Bhumi Pednekar simply added, “Condolences.”
Other industry figures, including Urmila Matondkar, Sonali Bendre, Zoya Akhtar, Chunky Panday, Khushi Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor, also expressed their sympathies with folded hands and red heart emojis.
The cremation ceremony saw several Bollywood celebrities paying their final respects. Karan Johar, Urmila Matondkar, Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, David Dhawan, Vijay Varma, and Fatima Sana Shaikh were among those captured leaving the venue after the ceremony.
Manish Malhotra’s team had earlier shared an official statement announcing the sad news:
“With gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we share the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Mrs Sudarshan Malhotra, at the age of 94. Having been blessed with a long and fulfilling journey, she leaves behind cherished memories, generations of love, and a legacy that will continue to guide us. The cremation ceremony was held on 20th March 2026, at 10 am.”
Garima Malhotra’s passing marks the end of an era for the designer, who has often spoken about the profound influence his mother had on his life and career. Tributes from friends, family, and colleagues highlight the love and respect she earned over her long and inspiring life.
