Aditya Dhar Thanks Cast, Crew, and Fans as ‘Peak Detailing’ Memes Go Viral Amid Dhurandhar 2 Success
New Delhi: The buzz around Dhurandhar: The Revenge shows no signs of slowing down. Since its theatrical release on March 19, the Ranveer Singh-starrer has been smashing box office records, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark on opening day despite delays and cancellations in regional shows.
Amid the celebrations, the makers hosted a special screening in Mumbai on the release day, with the cast and crew in attendance. Director Aditya Dhar took the stage to deliver a heartfelt speech that has now gone viral online, particularly for his humorous nod to the “peak detailing” memes that have taken over social media.
Dhar’s Speech Goes Viral
In the video shared by actor Rakesh Bedi, Dhar can be seen addressing the crowd of cast members, including Ranveer Singh, Yami Gautam, Arjun Rampal, Krystle D’Souza, and Ayesha Khan, while expressing gratitude for their hard work.
He said,
“Everyone has given their heart and soul to this film. I’m genuinely overwhelmed by the response, with whatever the news is coming and whatever peak detailing things are happening. But I genuinely want to thank you all for coming here, supporting us, and being a part of this journey.”
The “peak detailing” reference addresses the playful memes circulating online that celebrate—or gently poke fun at—Dhar’s meticulous attention to every minute aspect of the film. For instance, a viral clip highlighting a character eating half an apple sparked jokes and admiration for the level of detail in storytelling, especially given that Dhurandhar 2 is released in two parts.
Box Office Smash
The film’s commercial performance has mirrored the excitement around it. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Dhurandhar: The Revenge earned Rs 102.55 crore on opening day, with the Hindi version alone contributing Rs 99.10 crore.
- Paid Preview Collections (March 18): Rs 43 crore from 12,735 shows across India
- Regional Contributions: Telugu – Rs 2.12 crore, Tamil – Rs 1.16 crore, Kannada – Rs 0.8 crore, Malayalam – Rs 0.9 crore
This makes the opening nearly four times larger than the first Dhurandhar, which had opened with Rs 27 crore in December 2025. Compared to other recent Hindi blockbusters, the numbers are staggering: Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (2023) minted Rs 63 crore, and Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (2023) earned Rs 65 crore on their first days.
Handling Delays With Grace
The film’s release faced technical issues that delayed certain regional shows. Dhar issued a statement apologizing to fans:
“To our dear Dhurandhar family, Dhurandhar is not just a film for us—it is something we have lived with, nurtured, and dreamed of sharing with each and every one of you, together, at the same moment, in every language.”
Most Hindi shows resumed on time from 5 pm, while Tamil and Telugu screenings began from 9 pm. Malayalam and Kannada shows were scheduled to start the following morning.
