Rohit Sharma Shares Hilarious Banter with Shardul Thakur During MI Pre-Season Nets
Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma had fans laughing during Mumbai Indians’ (MI) pre-season practice ahead of IPL 2026, engaging in playful banter with teammate Shardul Thakur.
During the net session, Shardul bowled a length delivery targeting the middle stump, but Rohit smashed it for a massive six over long-on. Immediately after the shot, the veteran opener humorously teased the bowler, saying:
“Catch it… in the stands!”
The lighthearted moment highlighted Rohit’s playful side, even as he prepared seriously for MI’s upcoming campaign, which begins on March 29 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Pre-Season Training Under Jayawardene
Mumbai Indians officially began pre-season training on Monday. Head coach Mahela Jayawardene led the session, supported by bowling coaches Paras Mhambrey and Lasith Malinga, fielding coach Carl Hopkinson, and the full strength & conditioning and physiotherapy teams.
Jayawardene said:
“There’s always something special about the first day of pre-season. You see the players walk in, the energy builds, and the objective is to start strong. We’ve got the boys who know this franchise inside out, and we have got some exciting new faces coming in. Day one sets the tone for the entire campaign. We wanted everyone to feel the intent from the very first session, in how we train, how we prepare, and how we show up for each other.”
The rest of the MI squad is expected to join the camp in the coming days as preparations intensify ahead of IPL 2026.
