Actor Anil Kapoor recently revealed that he had turned down an offer to appear in a cameo role in Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film Dhurandhar: The Revenge. With less than a week left for the film’s release, the sequel has become one of the most anticipated gangster actioners, and Kapoor’s revelation has sparked curiosity among fans about the role he was originally offered.
Anil Kapoor confirms cameo offer
In an interview with India Today, Anil Kapoor confirmed that Aditya Dhar had personally approached him for a small cameo in the film. However, the veteran actor said he had to decline the opportunity because he had already committed his dates to another project.
“Yes, Aditya came to me for Dhurandhar 2. He wanted me to do a small cameo in the film,” Kapoor said. “But the reason I am what I am today is because of my professionalism and my commitment. That’s very important—only talent cannot make you what you are.”
Kapoor admitted he was disappointed to miss out on the project but said honouring prior commitments was more important.
“At that time, I had already committed those dates to another filmmaker. I told Aditya, ‘I would have loved to do this cameo, but I’m already committed.’ He is releasing the film now, and it’s a fantastic film. It’s my loss, but it’s okay,” he added.
The importance of professionalism
Explaining his decision further, Kapoor said that cancelling a filmmaker’s schedule for another project would have been unprofessional.
“At least I know in the back of my mind that it can happen to him as well. There could be another filmmaker who has just delivered a big blockbuster and offers me something when I’m already committed to Aditya. If I then go and do that film and cancel his dates, that would be completely unprofessional,” he said.
The actor also expressed hope that he and Aditya Dhar would collaborate in the future. When asked whether he could appear in a possible third installment, Kapoor hinted that he might prefer to take on something new.
Was Anil Kapoor offered the role of Bade Sahab?
While Anil Kapoor did not reveal the exact role he was offered, fans on social media have been speculating that he may have been approached to play the mysterious character “Bade Sahab.”
In the first film, the name Bade Sahab was mentioned multiple times by Sanjay Dutt’s character Chaudhary Aslam, suggesting that the shadowy figure is the mastermind behind a major terror network in Pakistan. The character is expected to play a crucial role in the sequel’s storyline.
Reports indicate that Emraan Hashmi has eventually been cast to portray the antagonist, with his name appearing alongside the character on the film’s listing page, further fuelling speculation that Kapoor may have initially been considered for the role.
Growing excitement for Dhurandhar: The Revenge
Meanwhile, excitement around the film continues to grow as the release date approaches. Actor Yami Gautam, who is married to Aditya Dhar, has already watched the sequel and shared a glowing reaction.
“I have already watched the film, and all I can say is that it is beyond extraordinary,” she said in an interview, adding that the experience left her deeply emotional.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi. The sequel is expected to continue the story from the first film, diving deeper into the backstory of Ranveer Singh’s character Jaskirat Singh Rangi as he prepares for a major act of revenge.
With the mystery around the character of Bade Sahab still intact and anticipation running high, the film’s release is likely to answer many questions fans have been debating online.
