The actress explained that she never called Rani Padmavati or the other women who performed jauhar “cowards.” According to Swara, her criticism was not about their courage or bravery, but about the message that such a scene could potentially send to survivors of sexual violence.
Swara stressed that her concern was about the larger idea being presented on screen. She said she was questioning whether women who survive sexual violence should be made to feel that their lives are no longer worth living after such an experience.
