Despite Maine Pyar Kiya becoming a blockbuster and turning Salman Khan into a popular young star, the actor once revealed that he went nearly six months without being offered a film after the success of the movie.

Recalling that difficult phase of his career, Salman said that his co-star Bhagyashree had decided not to continue working in films at the time. According to Salman, she “pura credit leke chali gayi”, while he was left without any film offers for around six months.

Salman once recalled, “Bhagyashree decided she did not want to work anymore, also pura credit leke chali gayi. For six months, I had no movies.”

The situation became so difficult that Salman’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, decided to help him. He reportedly convinced producer G.P. Sippy to announce that Salman had been signed for a new film, even though there was no confirmed project at that particular time.

The announcement immediately created attention in the film industry. Filmmaker Ramesh Sippy reportedly became interested in the project and paid ₹5 lakh for the film’s music rights.

Although the situation was unusual, the incident helped create momentum around Salman at a time when his career could have gone in a very different direction. It also shows that even actors who eventually become huge stars can experience uncertainty and periods when work is difficult to find.

Today, Salman Khan is regarded as one of the biggest and most influential stars in Bollywood. However, his early career was not always as smooth as it may appear in hindsight. The six-month gap after Maine Pyar Kiya is a reminder that success does not always guarantee continuous opportunities in the film industry.

For an actor, especially someone still establishing himself, periods without work can be challenging. Salman’s story also highlights the importance of having family support during difficult moments. His father’s decision to create interest around his son at a crucial stage reportedly helped Salman maintain visibility in the industry.

The story also raises an interesting question about Maine Pyar Kiya and the impact of its success. While the film made Salman and Bhagyashree household names, their careers took very different paths after the blockbuster.

Salman eventually continued working consistently and went on to build one of the longest and most successful careers in Hindi cinema. From struggling to find his next project to becoming a superstar with a massive fan following, his journey has been filled with challenges, comebacks and major successes.
