Former India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is set to receive a monthly pension of ₹70,000 from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) following his retirement from international cricket. The veteran batter qualifies for the highest pension category under the BCCI’s revised pension scheme, introduced in 2022 to provide greater financial security to former cricketers.
Rahane enjoyed a memorable international career, representing India in 85 Test matches, 90 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 20 T20 Internationals. Known for his calm temperament and dependable batting, he played several match-winning innings for the country across all formats.
One of the defining moments of Rahane’s career came during India’s historic 2020–21 Test series victory in Australia. After regular captain Virat Kohli returned home following the first Test, Rahane took over the captaincy and led an injury-hit Indian side to a remarkable 2-1 series triumph. His century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground remains one of the most celebrated knocks of his career.
