Bollywood actor Imran Khan has voiced his opinion on the role of artists in social and political conversations, saying that true art cannot be separated from an artist’s personal beliefs and perspectives.
The actor recently joined a protest march in Mumbai in support of the student movement led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). His participation came days after he shared a message online expressing concern over the alleged police action against student protesters in Delhi.
Imran Khan Joins Mumbai Protest in Support of Students
After extending his support to the student protests on social media, Imran Khan stepped out to participate in a solidarity march in Mumbai.
During the protest, the actor was asked by an aspiring artist about celebrities who choose to stay away from political matters and believe that art should remain separate from politics.
Responding to the question, Imran said that every artist naturally brings their own thoughts, experiences, and perspectives into their work.
He said, “True art is going to have an individual artist’s point of view embedded within it, and as part of our human nature, we are going to have opinions and perspectives that we hold true to ourselves.”
The actor further added that if artists cannot stand by their beliefs and do not put their emotions and convictions into their work, then their art loses its meaning.

Imran Expresses Anger Over Police Action
Earlier, Imran had shared a strongly worded post reacting to the alleged lathi-charge and use of tear gas against students during the “Chalo Sansad” march in Delhi.
Expressing his disappointment, the actor said he was deeply disturbed by visuals of police action against young protesters who were demanding reforms in the education system.
He questioned how students who had worked hard for their future could be met with force when they were asking to be heard.
Imran wrote that students represent the future of the country and questioned whether their concerns were being taken seriously.
He also criticized people who demand strict discipline from student protesters while ignoring accountability from authorities.
Student Protest Movement Continues
The CJP-led protest has been continuing for nearly a month over allegations of irregularities in competitive examinations, including the NEET paper leak controversy.
The protesters have been demanding greater transparency in the education system, accountability for those responsible, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk has also joined the movement and has been observing an extended hunger strike, drawing attention from people across the country.
The protests intensified after the “Chalo Sansad” march in Delhi, where clashes broke out between protesters and police. Students alleged excessive use of force, while authorities maintained that action was taken after violations of restrictions.
Celebrities Rally Behind Students
Imran Khan is among several celebrities who have spoken about the student protests.
Actors including Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Naseeruddin Shah, Prakash Raj, Shabana Azmi, Rajkummar Rao, and others have also expressed their views on the situation.
