BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut has spoken about the tense atmosphere inside Parliament during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest in Delhi, saying lawmakers were frightened as the demonstrations unfolded outside. She also praised the Delhi Police for protecting Members of Parliament and maintaining security during the unrest.
The protests, organised as part of the CJP’s “Chalo Sansad” march, saw thousands of students and activists gather in central Delhi to demand accountability over alleged examination irregularities and education reforms. As protesters attempted to march towards Parliament, clashes broke out with the police, leading to lathi-charge, tear gas shelling, and heavy security deployment.
Speaking to ANI after the incident, Kangana Ranaut recalled the tense moments inside Parliament. She said that the gates of the Parliament complex were shut, leaving MPs inside as the situation outside became increasingly volatile.

According to Kangana, there was genuine fear among parliamentarians that the crowd might breach security and attack the Parliament premises. She said everyone inside was worried as events unfolded rapidly outside the complex.
The actor-turned-politician also expressed gratitude to the Delhi Police, saying the force acted as a shield between the protesters and Parliament. She praised the officers for facing stone-pelting and injuries while ensuring that elected representatives and civilians remained safe.
The protest began at Jantar Mantar, where demonstrators had been camping for several weeks before marching towards Parliament. Despite heavy barricading across central Delhi, many protesters moved through narrow lanes and attempted to reach Parliament from different routes.
As the crowd advanced, clashes erupted at several locations, including near Kerala House, Parliament Street Police Station, Patel Chowk, and Rail Bhawan. Police used batons and tear gas to disperse the gathering and eventually pushed protesters back before they could reach the Parliament complex.
According to Delhi Police, the protesters violated prohibitory orders and allegedly attacked security personnel with stones and other objects. Police officials stated that at least 118 personnel were injured during the violence, while around 15 to 20 government vehicles and public properties were damaged.
Authorities have registered FIRs under multiple sections related to rioting, assault on public servants, damage to public property, and other offences. Several protesters were also detained following the clashes.
The CJP protest has since become a major political flashpoint, drawing reactions from leaders across the political spectrum as well as several celebrities, with debates continuing over the police action, the protesters’ demands, and the future of education reforms in the country.
