Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha has expressed pride in his daughter Sonakshi Sinha after she publicly extended her support to education reformer and activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike for nearly three weeks.

A day after Sonakshi’s emotional appeal went viral on social media, Shatrughan took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise her for speaking up on an issue she believes in.

Calling Sonakshi the “pride of the family,” the veteran actor said he was proud of her for taking a clear stand.

“Pride of my family, my darling daughter #SonakshiSinha makes me more proud today, by coming out boldly, openly with her timely response,” he wrote.

Expresses Concern Over Wangchuk’s Health

Shatrughan Sinha also voiced concern over Sonam Wangchuk’s deteriorating health as the hunger strike entered its third week.

Appealing to the government and concerned authorities, he urged them to engage with Wangchuk and address his demands before the situation worsens.

In his post, he wrote that Wangchuk has been fasting “for a right cause” and called for immediate intervention by the government, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister’s Office, urging them to initiate dialogue and ensure the activist’s safety.

His message ended with a heartfelt appeal:

“Save Wangchuk!”

Sonakshi’s Appeal Sparks Conversation

In the video, the actress said she could no longer remain silent while watching the activist’s condition worsen. She appealed to the government to begin a meaningful dialogue with Wangchuk and find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing protest.

Her message received widespread attention on social media, with many users appreciating her decision to speak on an issue concerning students and education reforms.
