Actor Shilpa Shinde has once again found herself at the centre of controversy after speaking about her highly publicised fallout with the makers of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. During a recent episode of Lock Upp, the actress defended her past actions and claimed that the show’s producer later requested her to return, despite the legal battle that had once made headlines.
Shilpa entered Lock Upp as a wildcard contestant and was seen discussing the controversy with fellow contestants Yogesh Rawat and Riyaz Ali. The conversation revolved around her earlier admission that she had filed a false sexual harassment complaint against the show’s producer, Sanjay Kohli.
While Yogesh said he believed such allegations could deeply affect someone’s life, Riyaz also shared that false accusations could permanently damage a man’s reputation. Responding to them, Shilpa stood by her decision and said she had done whatever she felt was necessary at the time.
According to Shilpa, she did not misuse the law but used it as a way to fight back when she believed she had no other options left. She further claimed that despite everything that happened between them, Sanjay Kohli eventually invited her back to Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! after nearly nine years.

“He begged me to return to the show after nine years. If everything was so wrong, why would he bring me back?” Shilpa questioned during the conversation.
When Yogesh continued to disagree with her, Shilpa ended the discussion by saying that he was too young to understand the situation and would only realise her perspective if he ever faced something similar in life.
The controversy dates back to 2016 when Shilpa abruptly exited Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. At the time, the production house accused her of being unprofessional, while Shilpa alleged that she had not received her pending payments and had experienced harassment on the set. A year later, she filed a sexual harassment complaint against producer Sanjay Kohli. The legal dispute was eventually settled out of court.
Earlier this year, during an appearance on a podcast hosted by Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Shilpa made a surprising confession. She admitted that the sexual harassment allegation was not true and said she had filed the complaint because she believed she had exhausted every other option to seek justice and recover her pending dues.
She explained that after the matter was resolved outside court, she received her outstanding payments, and both parties agreed not to speak publicly about the settlement.
Shilpa originally won millions of hearts as Angoori Bhabhi with her unique comic timing and memorable catchphrases. After her exit, Shubhangi Atre stepped into the role and continued the character’s popularity. Now, after almost a decade, Shilpa has returned to the show, bringing her iconic character back to television.
Her latest remarks on Lock Upp have once again reignited debate on social media, with viewers divided over her comments and the controversy surrounding one of television’s most talked-about disputes.
