‘Blink If You’re in Danger’: Rahul Roy’s Viral Reels Spark Concern, Nostalgia and Debate

Actor Rahul Roy is once again in the spotlight—but this time, it’s not for a film. His recent Instagram reels featuring an unfamiliar content creator have gone viral, drawing a mix of reactions ranging from nostalgia to discomfort.

For many viewers, the clips are a throwback to Roy’s glory days, with some appreciating his revisiting of songs from his breakout film Aashiqui. Even younger audiences, including Gen Z, are familiar with the film’s cultural impact—its music still echoes in everyday life, from roadside tea stalls to small-town streets. The film famously turned Roy and co-star Anu Aggarwal into overnight sensations, cementing their place in Bollywood history.

However, not all reactions have been positive. While some fans feel nostalgic, others have described the reels as awkward or unsettling. A section of social media users even expressed concern, with comments questioning Roy’s comfort in the videos and sparking the viral “blink if you’re in danger” remark.

Roy’s journey since his early success has been far from smooth. After the massive popularity of Aashiqui, he struggled to replicate the same level of stardom. Over time, both he and Aggarwal faded from the mainstream spotlight.

In 2020, Roy suffered a brain stroke while shooting in Kargil, a life-altering event that significantly impacted his career. Since then, he has maintained a relatively low profile, occasionally appearing at public events and sharing updates online.

Recently, Roy addressed criticism surrounding his appearances in music videos and reels. In a candid note shared on social media, he spoke about the realities of his situation, emphasizing his need to work and remain active following his recovery. He also revealed that some of the videos being discussed were shot before his stroke.

“I do my work with honesty and modesty… If you mock my simplicity or make fun of my struggles, it says less about me and more about you,” he wrote, highlighting both his vulnerability and resilience.

Roy further explained that continuing to work is essential not just financially but mentally, as it gives him a sense of purpose. His response has added a deeper layer to the conversation, shifting some public sentiment from criticism to empathy.

Despite the divided reactions, one thing is clear: Rahul Roy remains a figure of public interest. Whether through nostalgia, concern, or curiosity, his recent reels have once again brought him into the national conversation—reminding audiences of both his past stardom and present-day struggles.
