Preity Zinta Opens Up on Pap Culture: Says She Needs Boundaries, Especially for Her Children
Actor Preity Zinta has shared a detailed note addressing the growing “pap culture” and clarified her stance on privacy, especially when it comes to her children. The actor, who is currently in the spotlight as her IPL team Punjab Kings continues its strong run, spoke about the issue during an interaction with fans on social media.
“I Don’t Like My Children Being Photographed Without Permission”
During an Ask Me Anything session on X, a fan asked her about what she has sacrificed most between fame, privacy, and peace of mind.
Preity responded that she does not see it as a “sacrifice” but rather a balancing act between public life and personal boundaries.
She said she enjoys interacting with fans and is always happy to click pictures when approached respectfully. However, she drew a clear line when it comes to her children and intrusive photography.
“I don’t like it when people or media try to take photographs of my children (that’s non-negotiable),” she wrote, adding that she is also uncomfortable when photographers click her pictures without asking or unexpectedly approach her.

On Paparazzi Culture and Boundaries
Preity Zinta also spoke about the broader paparazzi culture, noting that while she understands the profession, certain practices feel overwhelming.
She said she is fine with photographers at public events, as it is part of their job, but finds it uncomfortable when they wait outside gyms, homes, or follow her without consent.
“I don’t like paparazzi following me around and jumping at me out of nowhere. Sometimes it’s scary,” she shared.
She further added that while some celebrities may choose to invite paparazzi for visibility, she prefers to maintain a more private and grounded approach.
“I Need My Downtime”
Preity emphasized that despite her public life, she is also “human” and needs personal space and downtime.
She explained that she respects fans and the media but believes in setting clear boundaries to maintain mental peace and balance.
“I’m absolutely okay with them at events, but outside those spaces, it becomes a bit too much,” she noted, while also expressing gratitude for the love and support she receives.
Personal Life
Preity Zinta married her American partner Gene Goodenough in 2016 in a private ceremony in Los Angeles. The couple welcomed twins—a boy and a girl—in 2021 via surrogacy.
She is also one of the co-owners of Punjab Kings, having invested in the franchise in 2008, making her one of the youngest and only female owners at the time.
A Clear Stand on Privacy
With her latest statement, Preity Zinta has once again highlighted the ongoing debate around celebrity privacy and paparazzi culture, calling for respect, boundaries, and consent—especially when it comes to children.
