Actress and model Sonali Raut has shared an interesting throwback about working with Ranveer Singh during a bold magazine cover shoot early in his career, recalling how the actor appeared surprisingly shy despite his current energetic public image.
Speaking in an interview with Filmibeat, Sonali said she remembers Ranveer as “very sweet, friendly and nice” during their shoot together, but also noticeably nervous as it was one of his first experiences with a glamorous and bold photoshoot setup.
“I know Ranveer very differently. I did a pose with him, and after a few years, he did the same pose with Vaani Kapoor. Ranveer, at that time, was very sweet, very friendly and very nice. He was not like full of energy. Actually, he was very shy because it was a bikini shoot,” she said.
Sonali explained that the shoot involved a highly glamorous concept, which made Ranveer slightly uncomfortable as it was new territory for him. She recalled that he even openly admitted his nervousness on set.
“He said, ‘This is my first shoot like that, very glamorous, and with a girl wearing a bikini,’” she shared, adding that Ranveer was careful and conscious throughout the session, chewing gum and using perfume while trying to stay composed.

According to her, the crew also noticed his nervousness, prompting them to ensure he felt comfortable during the shoot. Sonali, who was already experienced with such assignments, said she remained relaxed, while Ranveer was still adjusting to the environment.
The actress further noted that the version of Ranveer people see today—known for his high-energy personality and bold performances—was quite different from the reserved newcomer she met during that shoot.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is currently riding massive success with his latest film Dhurandhar 2, which has emerged as a blockbuster at the box office. The film has reportedly crossed ₹1,700 crore worldwide, further cementing his position as one of the leading stars of contemporary Indian cinema.
The sequel follows his character Hamza Ali Mazari’s rise in the intense spy-action narrative, supported by a strong ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt.
Sonali’s recollection offers a rare glimpse into Ranveer Singh’s early career phase, highlighting how even some of Bollywood’s biggest stars once began with nervous first steps before becoming larger-than-life personalities.
