Mumbai The nation continues to mourn the passing of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who died at the age of 92, as family, friends, and prominent personalities from the film and music industry gathered in Mumbai to pay their final respects.
The atmosphere at her residence was deeply emotional as admirers and celebrities arrived throughout the day to honour one of India’s most iconic voices. The singer’s mortal remains, brought from Breach Candy Hospital, were placed in a glass casket draped in the tricolour, with a ceremonial police salute offered as part of full state honours.
Tabu’s Emotional Gesture Towards Zanai Bhosle
A particularly moving moment was captured in a PTI video showing actor Tabu consoling Zanai Bhosle, who was visibly grief-stricken.
After paying her respects, Tabu approached Zanai and embraced her, offering quiet comfort during an overwhelming moment of loss. The gesture reflected the deep personal bonds shared within the film fraternity, extending beyond public appearances.
Film and Music Industry Pays Final Tribute
Several leading figures from cinema and music arrived to bid farewell to the legendary singer. Among the early visitors was composer A. R. Rahman, followed by actors and filmmakers including Jackie Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh, Renuka Shahane, Ranveer Singh, and Rakesh Roshan.
Veteran artists such as Helen, Poonam Dhillon, and Meenakshi Sheshadri also paid their respects, while singers including Udit Narayan, Hariharan, and Anuradha Paudwal were present to honour the musical icon. Filmmakers Ashutosh Gowariker and Subhash Ghai were also seen at the residence.
Family and Fans Gather for Final Goodbye
Members of the Mangeshkar family, including her son Anand and siblings Usha Mangeshkar and Hridaynath Mangeshkar, were present during the solemn proceedings. The passing of Asha Bhosle also marks another painful moment for the family following the death of her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar in 2022.
Outside the residence, large crowds of fans gathered to pay their respects, prompting authorities to deploy barricades and increase security arrangements.
Final Rites with State Honours
The last rites of Asha Bhosle are scheduled to be performed at 4 pm in Mumbai with full state honours, marking the final farewell to a voice that shaped generations of Indian music lovers.
