Rajat Patidar Hails Vaibhav Sooryavanshi After RR’s Powerplay Blitz in Six-Wicket Win Over RCB
Rajat Patidar praised the impact of Rajasthan Royals’ top order, especially teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, after their dominant six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 clash on Friday in Guwahati.
Chasing a target of 202, Rajasthan Royals produced a stunning batting display, powered by Sooryavanshi’s explosive 78 off just 26 balls and a composed unbeaten 81 from Dhruv Jurel. The duo dismantled the RCB bowling attack early, taking RR to 97/1 inside the first six overs and effectively sealing the momentum of the match.
Patidar Credits RR’s Aggressive Start
Speaking at the post-match presentation, RCB skipper Patidar admitted that RR’s batting, particularly Sooryavanshi’s fearless approach in the powerplay, made the difference.
“The way their batters, especially Vaibhav, batted in the powerplay, I think that made a huge difference,” Patidar said.
He acknowledged that RCB were outplayed in key phases of the game, despite putting up a strong total of 201/8. Patidar also emphasized that the team would take several learnings from the defeat.
RCB Recover to Post Competitive Total
Earlier in the match, RCB struggled after being asked to bat first. They were reduced to 62/4 and later 94/6, with early breakthroughs from Jofra Archer putting them under pressure.
However, skipper Patidar led the recovery with a well-made 63 off 40 balls, while Venkatesh Iyer provided a late push with an unbeaten 29 off 15 deliveries, helping RCB reach a respectable 201/8.
RR Dominate With Bat in Reply
In response, Rajasthan Royals delivered a clinical chase. Sooryavanshi’s fearless strokeplay set the tone early, while Jurel’s steady knock ensured control in the middle overs. The pair stitched a crucial 108-run partnership that left RCB struggling to fight back.
Later, Ravindra Jadeja contributed an unbeaten 24 as RR completed the chase comfortably in just 18 overs.
RR Continue Winning Momentum
With this victory, Rajasthan Royals extended their unbeaten run to four matches, while RCB suffered their first loss of the season. The match once again highlighted Sooryavanshi’s rapid rise, as his explosive batting continues to attract praise from across the cricketing world.
Patidar’s acknowledgment further underlined the youngster’s growing reputation as one of the most dangerous new talents in the league.
