Ravi Bishnoi Dismisses Virat Kohli Bowled After 1089 Days in Rare IPL Feat
Rajasthan Royals spinner Ravi Bishnoi achieved a rare milestone during the IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, becoming the bowler to end a long-standing streak against star batter Virat Kohli.
In the match held at Guwahati on Friday, Bishnoi clean-bowled Kohli for 32 off just 16 deliveries. The dismissal came via a perfectly disguised googly that beat Kohli’s bat and pad, crashing into the stumps and leaving the RCB star completely surprised.
Notably, this was the first time in 1,089 days that Kohli was dismissed bowled in the Indian Premier League, marking a significant achievement for Bishnoi. The last bowler to dismiss Kohli in this fashion was Chennai Super Kings’ Akash Singh in 2023.
RR Bowlers Shine With Crucial Breakthroughs
Rajasthan Royals’ bowling attack played a key role in restricting RCB after they were sent in to bat. Skipper Rajat Patidar led the charge with a well-compiled 63, helping RCB post a total of 201/8.
Other RCB batters, including Kohli (32), Romario Shepherd (22), and Venkatesh Iyer (29), made useful contributions but failed to convert starts into big scores.
For Rajasthan, Bishnoi finished with figures of 2/32, while Jofra Archer and Brijesh Sharma also picked up two wickets each to keep the opposition in check.
Sooryavanshi and Jurel Power Record Chase
In response, Rajasthan Royals delivered a dominant batting performance, led by teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed 78 off just 26 balls. He shared a blazing 108-run partnership with Dhruv Jurel, who remained unbeaten on 81 off 43 deliveries.
Later, Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja added another 68 runs to complete the chase comfortably with two overs remaining, sealing a six-wicket victory for RR.
Patidar Reflects on RCB Performance
RCB captain Rajat Patidar admitted his side fell short in execution despite posting a strong total. He felt the team was competitive but acknowledged that small errors in the middle overs cost them control of the match.
Parag Highlights Learning Curve
Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag praised his team’s efforts but also pointed out areas for improvement, especially in bowling execution. He noted that while 201 was a challenging target, better discipline could have restricted RCB to a lower total.
Despite minor concerns, RR’s all-round performance—highlighted by Bishnoi’s rare dismissal of Kohli and a dominant chase—ensured a comprehensive victory and one of their most complete performances of the season.
