Hrithik Roshan Says Actors Shouldn’t Perform Their Own Stunts: “It Should Be Banned”
Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan once shared his candid views about actors performing their own stunts, arguing that such dangerous tasks should be left to trained professionals rather than actors seeking to prove themselves.
In an old interview with Lehren TV, Hrithik made it clear that he does not support the idea of actors doing risky action sequences on their own. “I don’t believe in doing your stunts yourself. I think it is stupid. It should be banned,” he said.
Explaining his stance, the actor emphasised that filmmaking is a collaborative process where different professionals contribute their specialised skills to create a believable cinematic experience. According to him, performing stunts should not become an ego-driven decision for actors.
“The reason I say that is that it should not be about an ego trip. You’re an actor, you’re creating a magical world, a fantasy world. And there are a lot of things that go into creating that fantasy,” he explained.
Hrithik further pointed out that many elements help bring a character to life on screen, from makeup and costumes to dialogue and styling. These elements, he said, are designed to make the unreal appear real for audiences.
Highlighting the importance of stunt professionals in filmmaking, he stressed that stunt performers are specifically trained for such high-risk work. “People are specialised in doing certain specific jobs to help you create that entire world bit by bit in different pieces. A stuntman’s job is to do stunts,” he said.
He also compared the idea of actors insisting on doing stunts themselves to other creative roles in filmmaking. “If you have an ego there, it’s like saying I will write my own dialogues. It’s silly,” he added.
Hrithik’s remarks underline a broader conversation in the film industry about safety on sets and the crucial role played by stunt professionals who often work behind the scenes to bring thrilling action sequences to life.
