Nani is known for choosing different stories and delivering strong performances, and over the years, he has built a reputation for giving audiences films that stand out. However, his latest film The Paradise is receiving mixed reactions, with some viewers questioning whether the movie will be able to connect with a wider audience.

The biggest discussion around the film is not Nani’s acting but the story, presentation and pacing. While Nani has once again delivered a powerful performance, many viewers feel that the film itself does not have enough engaging moments to hold their attention throughout.

One of the most talked-about aspects of The Paradise is Nani’s look. The actor appears in a very different avatar, including two braids, which gives his character a unique appearance. It is certainly unlike the usual looks audiences have seen from Nani.

However, when it comes to the film’s overall setup, some viewers feel that it reminds them of the world created in KGF. The dark atmosphere, black-and-red colour combination and larger-than-life presentation give the film a familiar feel rather than something completely fresh.

The Film Loses Its Grip After the Interval

According to some reactions, The Paradise starts with an interesting setup but becomes slow and less engaging after the interval. The second half, in particular, has been criticised for its pacing, with some viewers feeling that the movie becomes boring and fails to maintain the excitement created earlier.

The issue is not necessarily Nani’s performance. In fact, his acting is being appreciated. The concern is whether the screenplay and storytelling are strong enough to support his character.

What Is The Paradise About?

The film revolves around a man named Jadal and the people living in a fictional place called Paradise. The story explores the struggles of downtrodden communities, their fight for identity and the power struggles surrounding them.

Spoiler alert: The story also focuses on Samakka, played by Sonali Kulkarni, who belongs to a socially marginalised and officially unrecognised tribe. She spends years fighting for her people’s identity and rights, often putting her own life and interests aside.

Samakka faces opposition from Shikanji Malik, played by Mohan Babu, who represents the feudal power structure controlling the region. Her struggle to convince the government to recognise her community becomes a major part of the story.

Despite Shikanji repeatedly trying to stop her plans, Jadal and the people eventually move closer to achieving what they want. The government ultimately recognises Samakka’s leadership and allows her community to claim its identity and legacy.

Jadal’s Name Has a Story Behind It

The film also gives an explanation for Jadal’s unusual name. The story begins with Samakka giving birth to Jadal and his twin sister. She reveals that she named her son Sarakka, while Jadal is a name or nickname used by his tribe.

The name is connected to his long hair, which he grows in honour of his sister. This becomes another part of Jadal’s identity and helps explain his unusual appearance in the film.

What About the Ending?

The ending has also left some viewers dissatisfied. Instead of giving the story a completely satisfying conclusion, the film reportedly sets up the possibility of a sequel, with the continuation expected to explore more of this world.

For some viewers, this approach may feel frustrating, especially if they were expecting the first film to provide a stronger payoff.

Nani’s Performance Remains a Highlight

Even with the criticism surrounding the story, one thing that stands out is Nani’s performance. The actor completely commits to his character and carries the unusual look with confidence.

Nani has rarely been afraid of experimenting with different roles, and The Paradise once again shows his willingness to step outside his comfort zone. The two-braid look, intense body language and characterisation make Jadal visually different from many of his previous roles.

The bigger question, however, is whether a strong performance can overcome a screenplay that some viewers are finding slow and predictable.

Is The Paradise Really a Flop?

It is still too early to call The Paradise a flop. Audience reactions and reviews can vary, and the film’s final box-office performance will depend on word of mouth, audience response and its theatrical run.

But the early criticism does raise an important question: Has Nani finally taken a story that does not have enough strength to match his performance?

Nani has delivered several memorable films, so expectations from him are naturally high. The Paradise attempts to create a dark, intense and larger-than-life world, but some viewers feel that the storytelling does not have enough freshness or emotional impact.

Now, it remains to be seen how audiences respond to the film in the coming days and whether The Paradise can overcome the criticism surrounding its story and second half.
